Zechariah 1:16-17

16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

17 Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

זכריה א':16-17 16 לכן כה אמר יהוה: שבתי אל ירושלים ברחמים, ביתי ייבנה בה, נאם יהוה צבאות, וחבל יימתח על ירושלים. 17 עודקראו לאמר: כה אמר יהוה צבאות: עוד יתפשטו עריי בטוב, וה' עוד ינחם ציון, ועוד יבחר בירושלים.

Glory to God. Sometimes the continuance of bad news can make us wonder if the countenance and face of God is still upon us and our nation. We may wonder if all the things He has said in His Word regarding us-if He still feels the same love He declared and if He stills see us as someone He prefers. The thoughts come to our mind, “Is God still good with us?” Well, this text should answer those questions. God says in our text, “I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies, and I shall yet choose Jerusalem.” This tells us, no matter if they look chosen or not-they are still chosen by God. Even if it appears His mercies have failed, He still has abundant mercies for Jerusalem, and they shall forever live in His mercies.

The Father decrees again, “My house shall be built in Jerusalem, and His cities through prosperity shall yet spread abroad.” Thus, be assured-no one can cancel Jerusalem or destroy it for God has mercies they have never seen for Jerusalem. And when God chooses something only He can remove them from being chosen. So be encouraged this day. If the cities aren’t prospering-they will because He has spoken His cities through prosperity shall spread abroad. If you don’t feel comforted, please know-you will be comforted. For there was a time in the book of Esther when it seemed all would be lost. But God turned their mourning days around and delivered them on a scale that is still being talked about until this day. In Jesus name if you are in any kind of despair today, may God heal the despair in your life. May God turn your month from sorrow to joy, and your mourning to a good day in Jesus name.

God knows every plan to destroy and make Jerusalem desolate. But He brings His comfort to Zion today-You are still chosen and His mercies are forever.

Prayer:

Father, let Your mercies, Your manifold mercies cover Jerusalem. Hear their cries and answer their prayers. Return Your people to You and let them not ever forsake You, oh God. Send Your love and comfort to them today for the enemies all many. Bless Jerusalem; bless Israel; and Father bless all the nations and all the people who love her. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

One of the most distressing books in the Bible is the book of Jeremiah, so when God continues to return to this book, one should think-is He warning us of something? You know beloved, we can think God is accepting many of the things we do, when in actuality our actions are not in line with what Jesus would endorse. And just because we think something is right-doesn’t indicate God thinks it is right. Unfortunately, this line of thinking is a danger zoom and a trap where the church is beginning to sink, and it is a major problem. In Jeremiah’s day the people spoke, “We looked for peace, but no good came. And for a time of health, and behold trouble.”

Why would no good come and a time of trouble? Doesn’t God tell us repeatedly-He is good? Well, if we follow the story in Jeremiah we can see one reason is when something is misaligned with what God wants. And if it happened with them-it can happen to us. Therefore, we must frequently examine and search our lives, because we could be doing something that we have always done-and God is becoming weary because it is against His Word. In Jeremiah’s God warned things wouldn’t better, but worse if a change didn’t come. And God also warned them of the unthinkable-He warned through the prophet without correction, war would occur. In Jesus name may we discover where we have failed to be aligned with God, fix it, and avoid the unthinkable.

His people were operating in wickedness. And in Jeremiah 8, God tells Jeremiah to tell the people, “Thus saith the Lord, Shall they fall, and not arise? Shall He turn away and not return? Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright. No man repented of his wickedness saying, What have I done? Every one turned to his course, as the horse rushes into battle. Yea, the stork in the heaven knows her appointed times and the turtle and the crane and swallow observe the time of their coming; but My people know not the judgment of the Lord.”

עמו פעל ברשע. ובירמיהו ח', אלוהים אומר לירמיהו לומר לעם: "כה אמר ה', היפלו ולא יקומו? הישוב ולא ישוב? ולמה נסוג עם ירושליםהזה משיבה נצחית? הם מחזיקים במרמה, הם מאנו לשוב. אני שמעתי ושמעתי, ולא דברו נכון. איש לא חזר על רעתו לאמר מה עשיתי? איש פנה למסעו כסוס רץ למלחמה. כן, החסידה בשמים יודעת מועדיה, והצב והעגור והסנונית שומרים עת בואם; ועמי לא ידע את משפטה'."

Ecclesiastes 3:8 says there is a time for peace, and a time for war. And wicked doings can trouble the time of peace. You see beloveds, 2 Chronicles 14:6 tells us of a time there was no war because God had given rest. Therefore, God determines when there will be war. In the days of Jeremiah, He had spoken peace-but then discussions of war began to arise. Why? God was seeing things that was against what He said to do. Thus, we must search ourselves to make sure we aren’t the reason His rest is moving. We know at times enemies will come into the gates of the righteous to destroy, but if God can give rest, He can certainly take it away. So, we have a responsibility to ensure we aren’t the one’s causing war. We must look at ourselves and ask: Lord, is this an enemy in our gate or a sin issue? Is it my actions causing the war in my home? The war in my children? The wars on my job? As a child of God, am I contributing to rest or war in my nation?

In Jesus name, I pray rest remains our portion; however, let us all know as children of God we do have a role in our personal lives-our environments, homes, and even in our going in and out if we will live in the peace of the Lord or will we help cause war on every side.

Prayer:

Father, if we have become the wicked, forgive us. Father, we repent for our sins, transgressions and iniquities. Show us our wrong, and Holy Spirit reveal to us our errors and let us not pressed past what You bring to our attention. Lord, we desire for peace to rest and be still over our lives, so let Your Words pierce our hearts and spirits. Let us see our own wrong, and our doings as we read Your Word. Let us cry out to You and ask for help for the things of long continuance we have yet to put away. Show us ourselves in Your mirror, oh God, and let us not think we are blameless, when we are not. For You see even our secret sins. Father, deliver us from ourselves and makes us upright before Your eyes. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Wisdom Is To Number Your Days. חוכמה היא למנות את ימיך

1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

ה', היית לנו משכן בכל דור ודור. 2 בטרם ילדו הרים, או יצרת ארץ ותבל, ומעולם ועד עולם אתה אלוהים. 4 כי אלף שנים בעיניך כתמולכי עבר, וכמשמרת בלילה. 5 כנוף תסחפם כשנתון הם, בבוקר כעשב צמח. 6 בבוקר יפרח וצמח, בערב יגזר ונובל. 8 נתת את עוונותינו לפניך,חטאינו הסודיים באור פניך. 9 כי כל ימינו חלפו בחמתך, שנותינו כלו כמעשייה המסופרת. 10 ימי שנותינו שבעים שנה ועשר, ואם מכוחיהיו שמונים שנה, כוחם עמל ויגון, כי מהרה יגזר ונעף. 12 לכן למדנו לספר ימינו ונקדיש לבבנו לחכמה.

Glory to God. Oh Lord God, satisfy us early with Your Mercy that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. The Holy Spirit today instructs that we teach ourselves to number our days and apply our hearts unto wisdom. But what wisdom is He speaking of? It is the wisdom to know our God. Every day and the moments we seek to know God more-they are all applying our hearts to the wisdom that matters.

תהילה לאל. הו אדוני אלוהים, השביע אותנו מוקדם ברחמיך כדי שנוכל לשמוח ולשמח כל ימינו. רוח הקודש מורה לנו היום ללמד את עצמנו למנות את ימינו ולהקדיש את ליבנו לחוכמה. אבל על איזו חוכמה הוא מדבר? זוהי החוכמה להכיר את אלוהינו. כל יום והרגעים שאנו מבקשים להכיר את אלוהים טוב יותר - כולם מקדישים את ליבנו לחוכמה החשובה.

If we don't know that our days here on earth are numbered, the Lord advises we should teach ourselves to remember this and not forget the task of numbering our days. For no one lives forever, and a day will come that we are carried away. Many live as if their days aren’t decreasing. Many live as if our iniquities aren’t before Him and our secret sins in the light of His Countenance. Let us note that in our passage God is mindful of “the secrets” and what is done in secrecy. For man may boast that they have eyes everywhere, but only God controls what He allows man to see or not to see. God can make man see something that is spiritual, and they think it is right before them. He can change out what is before our eyes with angels and make a new scene sent from the Heavens. If God doesn’t want someone to see-they have no power to control what they see. God can make men on earth see what He wants them to see, and He can close their eyes even when they are open. He has ways to blind with the elements, and He can take down and destroy our most iron gates. So, in this text He reminds mankind-they can be carried away without permission for He has limited our days to seventy years and beyond that it is His mercy. Meditate on that.

אם איננו יודעים שימינו כאן עלי אדמות ספורים, ה' מייעץ לנו ללמד את עצמנו לזכור זאת ולא לשכוח את משימת ספירת ימינו. כי איש אינו חי לנצח, ויבוא יום בו נסחף. רבים חיים כאילו ימיהם אינם מתמעטים. רבים חיים כאילו עוונותינו אינם לפניו וחטאינו הסודיים לאור פניו. נשים לב שבקטע שלנו אלוהים מודע ל"סודות" ולמה שנעשה בסתר. כי האדם עשוי להתפאר בכך שיש לו עיניים בכל מקום, אך רק אלוהים שולט במה שהוא מאפשר לאדם לראות או לא לראות. אלוהים יכול לגרום לאדם לראות משהו רוחני, והם חושבים שזה ממש לפניהם. הוא יכול להחליף את מה שנמצא לנגד עינינו במלאכים וליצור סצנה חדשה שנשלחת מהשמיים. אם אלוהים לא רוצה שמישהו יראה - אין לו כוח לשלוט במה שהוא רואה. אלוהים יכול לגרום לאנשים עלי אדמות לראות את מה שהוא רוצה שהם יראו, והוא יכול לעצום את עיניהם גם כשהן פקוחות. יש לו דרכים לסנוור עם איתני הטבע, והוא יכול להפיל ולהרוס את שערי הברזל הכי גדולים שלנו. אז, בטקסט הזה הוא מזכיר לאנושות - הם יכולים להיסחף ללא רשות כי הוא הגביל את ימינו לשבעים שנה ומעבר לכך שזהו רחמיו. הרהרו על כך.

The Holy Spirit has placed is speaking to you today to apply your heart to His wisdom. I don’t know what wisdom you have been focusing on, but that wisdom is nothing compared to the wisdom of the Lord. For in His wisdom it will tell you-when He says it is your last day-there is no more doing good or making a change for your errors or the harm you have caused someone He loves. So change your life and do good, show mercy, and let none oppress or imagine evil against another.

For even in nature, God created the creatures to attack one who harms their child so it is likewise with God. Save yourself for an unnecessary harm for you will never win against God. Although he gives you a temporary power-that power He will one day take away and your eyes will cry.

Thus, let us be grateful that we have knowledge of our days for He knows when those days will end. If you are engaging in secret sins, know they could very well be removing days and years away from your life. Our days and years are in His hands, and only what we do for Christ will last. Please know, He has speaking against all week the “devising of mischief” and when He warns, He doesn’t warn in vain. So save your soul from a destruction and despair and know if He is warning about your days, you may not live to see the next week, month, or year. Let our prayer be: Oh Lord God, teach me to number my days and apply my heart to wisdom. Teach me to know that secret sins do matter in Your sight.

Father, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. You formed the earth and the world, and from everlasting to everlasting-Thou art God and You will be our God. Let not a day go by that we don't apply our hearts to Your wisdom. Let us read Your Word, so we can put off things that subtract from our days, and not add to them. Father, we thank you for all the years you have given us, and we pray we have many more. Many have been graced to live well past eighty years, and for that we thank you. Farther, we don't know whose days are coming to an end. If it is our days or another-but if it is our days Lord, let us end well.

Father, let us not live all our years on earth and our end is not graced by Your mercy. Father, continue to be our refuge and fortress in this evil world. Continue to guide us with Your merciful hand, and let the angels be a guard around us day and night. We decree, a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand-but it shall not come near us. Let no evil befall us, neither let any plague come nigh our dwelling. Father, bless our going in and going out all our days, for we put our trust in You. Lord, please teach us to number our days for we know not the day You will call our name, and must fly away.
